Growing up in the mountains of rural Pennsylvania, Ric learned to
appreciate nature and the beauty of landscapes at an early age. He started
drawing at the early age of six.
His high school only offered one art class, so he took the same class
over for three years. The last year he was able to do independent study."
I never had to decide what I was going to be when I grew up" Ric says"
I always knew I was going to be an artist".
After high school, Ric landed a job at a commercial art studio, in
Philadelphia, and learned how to prepare art for printing. This was the
beginning of a twenty year career as a graphic designer and illustrator.
During this time he continued to paint and travel ending up in California
where he opened a design studio and later expanded the business to include
advertising and publishing.
Eventually settling in Hawaii, on the island of Kaua'i, Ric now spends
most of his time painting. Drawing his inspiration from the lush tropical
landscapes of the Hawaiian islands, his watercolors possess an
inspirational almost dreamlike quality. His subjects include
landscapes, animals and people and his style is constantly evolving.
